Brazil, Fazenda Aracaçu, Anaerobic Natural
This coffee comes from one of two family farms run by Carmen Lúcia Chaves de Brito with her brother and sisters, third generation coffee producers. Lúcia, ‘Ucha’, was born on the farm and has now taken over its management with a new focus on producing speciality coffee. Ucha has also invested in the team’s education and development, and in an on-site coffee-tasting lab, and sustainability. In 2024, the farm’s Head of Quality Control, Dionatan Almeida, who grew up on the farm and whose parents both worked there, won the World Cup Tasters Championship, the first Brazilian to do so. In 2025, the farms won first place in the Natural category and received the Presidential Coffee Title. This particular coffee is an anaerobic natural: the cherries are left to ferment in oxygen-free tanks, giving the coffee slightly boozy, dried-fruit flavours.
